Sports at Coppice

Football

WINNERS! On October 14th, the Year 5 football team played in a cup game against Wylde Green, in a very hard fought game. The final score was 2-2 with a great free kick goal from Harry. The game went to penalties where we won 4-3 after a great penalty save from a Lucas! MOTM was Max!

Dodgeball

On the 12th October, some of our Year 4s applied the 5 D’s of Dodgeball in the @WSActiveSociety

engage dodgeball competition. There was plenty of: dodging, ducking, dipping, diving and… dodging! Great effort by everyone and some excellent team values displayed by everyone!

Cross Country

On Wednesday 27th September, Coppice attended the second Cross Country race in the Sutton schools competition. We sent the biggest team and the atmosphere was wonderful. Both the boys and the girls teams had first time runners and the children were keen and raring to go! They looked a little less keen when they realised the course was a bit longer than they thought! Every child ran the best race they could and Mr Walkett and Mrs Lees were there cheering them all around the course, along with so many of our families!

We were so proud of everyone who took part, but we simply have to give a special recognition to Charlotte who finished in first place! WOW!

Football

On Tuesday 20th September, Coppice participated in a Year 4 football tournament at Bishop Vesey. We were fortunate and were able to have two teams with 16 fantastic footballers representing the school, lots of them for the very first time.

Both teams performed brilliantly in some highly competitive and close matches. One of our teams made it through to the semi-final but were ultimately knocked out by a dubious extra-time penalty. We went on to finish in an excellent 4th place.

William Biddle put in some fantastic performances, making lots of great saves and Eleanor-May Ramsey impressed with some fearless and tenacious tackles.

Well done to all for your participation and efforts. Thank you to parents for your support and arranging travel!
